Hawker infiltrates a human trafficking operation at the Mexican border.
In a forgotten town on the wrong side of Texas, James Hawker stumbles into a fetid dive bar. The most dangerous vigilante in America is blind drunk, and stinks of mescal. He begs the bartender for help getting back across the border, and the man obliges - for a fee. He introduces Hawker to a pair of toughs, who chain him up in the back of a truck and begin the long trip north. Hawker has been captured by a modern-day slaving outfit - and it's exactly what he had in mind. Hawker's nationwide war against organized crime has led him to Houston, where the land barons of Texas have found a way to save money on labor Capture vagrants in Mexico and put them to work as field hands - and worse. To break the slave ring, Hawker has placed himself right in the line of fire. Houston Attack is the fifth book in the Hawker series, but you may enjoy listening to the series in any order.

This is a story about a super vigilante with a great reputation. Yet, he goes on an undercover mission and blows his cover in the first five pages. And then it turns out he has an entire arsenal hidden in his clothing. It's downhill from there. The writing is, at best, at a high-school level, and the characters have no depth. I get the feeling he knows very little about that which he writes. I finished it only because I was curious about how the plot would develop. (That was worth a chuckle.) Houston Attack (Audible Audio Edition) Randy Wayne White writing as Carl Ramm Noah Michael Levine Audible Studios Books Reviews
This story is an easy read, chocked with never ending action as the kill rate mounts. You will know how it will end way before it does however it is still worth reading. There are a few surprises that will hold your interest.
Another good story where the good guys win! If we could get Hawker, Tanner and Reacher together....no more terrorists.
Great read
Randy Wayne White should be ashamed he put his name on this piece of trash! The writer of this third rate Reacher wanna be book is obviously NOT the same writer who wrote the excellent Doc Ford series! Shame on you Mr. White!
I have to be honest. I am a fan of Randy Wayne White's character Doc Ford books, but this book's character just wasn't as complex, the book was not as long and while pretty good, I couldn't give it the stars I would have for his other books. If I hadn't read most of this author's 5 STAR novels I would not have expected so much from this one.
This is an early book, written under a pseudonym, by the author of the "Doc Ford" series. I gave it 4-stars because the writing is not as polished and the storyline not as complex, or well-developed as in the Doc Ford novels. But I still enjoyed the book. The hero, Hawker, is similar in some respects to Jack Reacher, Jason Bourne, or Elvis Cole. If you like action-adventure novels of this kind, you'll probably like this book.
I've read many of this author's books and enjoy his style. This book was no different. The story is quick moving, to the point and avoids a lot of fluff that you see with many authors today. The result is the books are typically, say 100 pages shorter than many, but I like that. This is a new character for me. Not to be chauvinistic, but a man's book. Not to exclude the ladies, some will enjoy it. Action and take care of business - Hawker is a man who take care of business. Would recommend!
Simple read with the good guy beating the bad guy. Good story line - somewhat predicable - but enjoyable. Sometimes its nice to read something that isn't too heavy or too preachy and where the good guy wins. Mr. White makes you feel you are there in the scene - very well written.
